Mechanical Design Engineer

This position will be located at the Elster engineering center in the United Kingdom.
Primary Responsibilities
The ME will work on related projects primarily focused on the Evolution AMR/AMI system, looking at the all hardware aspects, with a view of development and robustness. This will involve various materials, environmental factors and handling that will need to be considered. Inputs will come from the customers, Field Technical Support and Elster’s systems development company.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• CAD Skills with 2D and 3D, preferably Mechanical Desktop and Solidedge.
• Sound Mechanical Engineering background with detail design involving intricate tolerances.
• Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous castings.
• Knowledge of plastic moldings, mainly injection.
• Knowledge of materials mainly ferrous and polymer.
• Knowledge of stresses and strains of materials.
• Project and task planning with analyzing and reporting skills using sound judgment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Team and individual work as required.
• Experience with water meters preferred, not required.
• Technical and functional expertise with a drive for results.
• Establish plans and lead courageously while fostering open communication.
• Show work commitment, act with integrity, speak effectively, develop one self, is adaptable.
• Will involve understanding the current portfolio of water meters with many different products to learn.
Education and Experience
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with two to five years experience in a related field or demonstrated experience with Associates degree.
