RF Systems Engineer

This position will transition by mid 2009 from our headquarters in Ocala, FL to our Engineering Center in Raleigh, NC.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary function of this position is to design test methodologies for the advancement of the evolution™ AMR and AMI RF system. The individual will work as part of a small team, taking inputs from Field Technical Support and Elster’s systems development company, and identify problems including making recommendations to the whole system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Set up and coordinate design validation activities in conjunction with the system supplier.
• Devising and releasing product configurations meeting customer requirements through the production release system.
• Working knowledge of SQL databases, trouble shooting and administration.
• Must be able to resolve complex matters on own, exercising judgment and initiative. Provides information on complex matters to others for resolution.
• Experience in network & systems management, client server distributed computing, facilities management, capacity planning, performance tuning, systems security, workload analysis.
• Provide expert support for resolving application issues.
• Develop training material for the field support engineers.
• A background in technical support for sophisticated electronic systems.
• A sound understanding of release processes for high volume industrial product.
• An ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gathering and analyzes information skillfully.
• Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations demonstrates to suppliers, customers and internal staff.
• Delegate work assignments, giving authority to work independently, set expectations and monitor delegated activities.
• Knowledge in handheld/portable devices, neural network, ASIC testing also an asset.
• Must be able to foster teamwork and open communication.
• Adaptability is essential, use technical/functional expertise, develop oneself.
• Broad technical knowledge required.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Multiple challenges: knowledge transfer, product support, new product design, must work under pressure to aggressive timelines.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with five to eight years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience or demonstrated accomplishments.
