Software Engineer for Revision Control Management

This position will transition by mid 2009 from our headquarters in Ocala, FL to our Engineering Center in Raleigh, NC.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary function of this position is to provide detailed software revision control throughout the entire evolution™ AMR and AMI system. Working as part of the development team, the position will be focused on testing new software releases before release to the field and providing feedback to both teams in Florida and France. The position will also be responsible for ensuring updates are known and followed throughout the entire team and Field Technical teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong communication skills to interface effectively and diplomatically with other groups, domestically and internationally.
• Knowledge and understanding of programming languages such as Java/J2EE, C, C#, Windows CE and Netsoftware.
• Working knowledge of RF systems, preferably in utility environment.
• Ability to develop testing plans to validate new software releases against product functional specifications (PFS).
• Microsoft Suite of products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
• Ensure that software changes are clearly understood and released throughout whole supply chain and traceability is known in detail.
• Assist with part / system change approval by coordinating various software testing reports.
• Have a sense of urgency/drive for results.
• Motivating others and display organizational savvy and be adaptable.
• Participate in the development and review of specifications to gain an understanding of application changes.
• Complete basic program changes to translate specifications and requirements into code.
• Apply basic technical skills to produce deliverables (i.e. specifications, program changes, unit test-scripts, documentation, etc.).
• Provide documentation to support program changes.
• Plan, documenting and executing unit test plans to ensure all code changes meet requirements and specifications.
• Support programming changes during quality assurance, user acceptance testing and post implementation to ensure integrity of application.
• Monitor progress against task estimates to provide status.
• Comply with standards and procedures to ensure development consistency (e.g., programming standards, change management, version control).
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering with a minimum of three years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidates must have one to two years of programming experience using Java/J2EE, C, C#, Windows CE and Net software.
Second language preferred-Spanish/Chinese/French
