Charitable donations and community support
The Elster Group believes that the well-being of the communities in which the Group operates is important to its long term development and success.Elster carefully evaluates and monitors community programmes to ensure that they deliver measurable, sustainable community and business benefits. The Group also encourages partnerships which leverage other resources to be contributed to existing or new programmes.
Examples of charitable work done around the group include donating a total of $57,000 USD towards the Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina via our US operations and participating in the local March of Dimes walk, for which staff raised approximately $3,000 USD in 2006.
Other examples include:
- Staff at Elster Amco de Mexico who participated in a local mini marathon to help child care homes and raised 7,500 Mexican pesos.
- Elster-Instromet GmbH und Elster-Instromet Production GmbH donate a total of €5,000 to different organisations every year, while in 2006 Elster Instromet, Belgium donated €900 to Medecins Sans Frontiers for the earthquake in Pakistan.
- Elster Amco de South America offers internships for university students, providing training and a monthly contribution of around 200 Euro. A contract is made with the university and with the student. There is no legal labour relationship.
